Day 6: Life is a temporary assignment

..::*+ Small Talk +*::..
Whenever I feel sad, there will be someone, out of nowhere, to support me. Wonder when will this last? But it is better not to wonder, just believe that there will always be someone, if is not you, then will be her, or him, or them - Anyone :)

Did Praise and Worship with Jia Jin for my Cell Group. Was glad for myself, first step for putting entire me into serving. It's time, I heard, to give, after so much while I'm only receiving.

I wonder, who's reading my blog. I wonder, to whom I should put more time and efforts in. I wonder, how strong I am. I wonder, how much impact can I do in your life?

Last but not least, sorry for posting this very late.
Guess no one noticed.

Day 6: Life is a temporary assignment

To make the best out of your life, we should remember always 2 important keypoints:
1. Life on earth is extremely brief compare to eternity.
2. Earth is just a temporal residence of ours.

You won't be here long, so don't get too attached. Ask God to help you see life on earth as He sees it.
Rick Warren - The Purpose Driven Life

We should always remind ourselves that our "citizenship" belongs to heaven, not on earth.

Our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ,
Philippians 3:20

We are all ambassadors of Christ. But most of us foolishly think that earth is our home, which is not. 1. Peter 2:11:-

Dear friends, I urge you, as aliens and strangers in the world, to abstain from sinful desires, which war against your soul.

So why do we indulge too much on earthly things, when we should be pursuing something else greater? Why do we all fall for temptations on earth? Why do we enjoy the happiness over fascinating attractions, mesmerizing media, and unforgettable experiences available today, more than the true joy in heaven? Why do we behave like this? Is this the way? No, in the Holy Bible it is stated that:-

We fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
2. Corinthians 4:18

The truth that earth is not our home also explains why even followers of Jesus face difficulties, sorrows, and rejections in this world. In order for us to realize this truth, God allows us to feel the discontentment and dissatisfaction of this world. Wars, famines, diseases, illnesses and so on, could be one of the reasons. We will not completely happy about life on earth, because here is not where we will be forever. A bird will not be happy if it is being kept in a cage forever, because it supposed to soar freely in the blue sky. Same applies to us: We will not be 100% happy on earth, because we were made for more - What God has prepared for us.

Therefore, our eternal values should be altered, knowing the fact that life on earth is just a temporary assignment. Often people will say God's goals for us is to have prosperous life and grand successes on earth; it is not true, however.

The abundant life has nothing to do with material abundance, and faithfulness to God does not guarantee a success in career or even in ministry.
Rick Warren - The Purpose Driven Life

We can see lots of examples from the Bible that a lot faithful followers did not have pleasant earthy ending: Paul ended up in Prison. John the Baptist was imprisoned and then was beheaded. There were lots of them who were being treated badly. It sounds very discouraging, but you have forgotten something - But the end of life on earth is not the end of life!

In God's view, the greatest heroes of faith are those who treat his life as a temporary assignment and serve faithfully, and expecting the promised rewards in heaven. Indeed, it takes a lot of faith to live on earth as a foreigner. We will be tested with lots of tests and difficulties. Tears and bloodshed might also involve in these exam. But when things getting tougher, the road seems not to be straight, doubts overwhelmed you, and you're thinking if it is worth the effort to continue to believe in Jesus, remember my friends, that you are not home yet. And at death you're not leaving home - You are going home.
