Hmm.. It has been quite some time since my last post. Well, basically I'm busying with my studies and since I promised to excel in A-Level exam, so has been studying and play until blood veins can be seen at my forehead. No picture, but that's a truth. Or perhaps I tensioned a lot.
Well, today I saw one PPP (PowerPoint Presentation) in my pendrive. Don't know who put it into my pendrive, but I was somehow touched by the presentation. Credits to the original creator and the translator and to the one who put into my pendrive =D
It's a story about "pac-man". How to describe? Err... I think the most suitable explanation: A round pizza but with one slice missing.
Author: Shed Silverstein.
Title: The Missing Piece
Translator: 林良
The piece about "imperfectness" and "satisfaction".
He (The pac-man) is missing a piece. He is not happy.
He set off to find the missing piece.
He rolled along, singing:
"Oh I'm going to look for my missing piece,
I'm going to look for my missing piece,
Ah ha ha, on the way,
To look for my missing piece."
Sometimes, he had to bear the heat of the sun.
Following that, that icy cold rain falls.
Sometimes the snow freezes him up.
Then the sun will come out and give him warmth.
Because he is missing a piece, so he can't roll very fast.
Thus, he could stop and chat with the worm.
Or smell the fragrance of the flowers.
Sometimes he managed to overtake the crawling beetles.
But sometimes the beetle managed to overtake him.
Sometimes butterflies will eventually rest on his head.
This kind of moment is the happiest for him.
He continued on, crossed the ocean.
"Oh I'm looking for my missing piece,
Across the land and sea,
Not afraid of the roads ahead,
I'm looking for my missing piece."
Through the swamps and scrubs,
Up the mountains,
And down the hills,
Until one day, he saw a piece and sang,
"I've found my missing piece,
I've found my missing piece,
Not afraid of the long road ahead,
I've found.."
"hold on!" the piece said. "Don't sing that 'not afraid of the long road ahead' yet!"
I'm not your missing piece. I'm not anyone's piece. I am my OWN piece. Even if I AM someone's missing piece, I believe it would not be yours.
"Owh," He said sadly. "Sorry to disturb you." And he went on his way again.
He then found another piece. But this piece was too small. Other was too big. Another is slightly too sharp, the other was too squarish.
There was once when he found a piece which perfectly fit. But he did not grab hold of it tight. And he dropped it.
The another time when he grabbed hold of it too tight, and broke it.
He went on his way again. He met dangers, fell into pits, banged into stone walls.
One day, he met another piece which seemed to be perfectly fit.
"Hi!" he said.
"Hello!" the piece answered.
"Are you anyone's missing piece?"
"No, I'm not."
"Then you're your own piece?"
"I can be someone's piece, as well as be my own piece."
"You probably won't want to be my piece..."
"Not really..."
"Maybe we're not suitable."
"Don't say like that."
They put into each other.
"How's it?"
"Feels good!"
Very suitable! A perfect fit! Finally found it! FINALLY FOUND IT!
He rolled along, because he does not short of a piece anymore, he rolled faster and faster than before.
He moved so fast,
that he could not stop to chat with the little worm,
that he could not smell the fragrance of the flowers,
that the butterflies were unable to rest on him.
But he was happy and he wanted to sing his song.
He started to sing, but because he did not have any crack, he could not sing.
"I know why. There's a reason here." He stopped.
And put down his missing piece, and left.
He moved along, the butterflies caught up to him and rest on him.
Regarding maturity,
In this modern world, we would sometimes inevitably envy other people, and lament about our own imperfection. We seek to be perfect. But the more we seek, the more we become imperfect.
No one lives a perfect life, neither a king, nor a millionaire. Everyone has a lack of something.
Some couples might be very loving, but in the end they might ended with break-up because they can't satisfy each other.
Some people have good look and talents, but they have rough hard time on their relationship.
Some people might possess a lot of wealth, but they don't have filial children.
Some people look to have a good life, but their brain could be empty throughout their life.
Everyone's life has been designed with imperfections, you may not like them and reject their existence, but you can't shield from them forever.
I used to hate my imperfections, but now I realized that everyone has to learn to accept their imperfections with open arms.
Because I understand that the flaw in a life is like a spike on our back, reminding us to be humble and empathize with others.
If there are no hardships, we will be complacent. If there is no depression, we cannot empathize and console those who are less fortunate.
Life also cannot be perfect, having a crack to let happiness to flow out to others is a beautiful deed.
You don't have to own everything,
Because if you have own everything, what is left for the others?
Also recognize that life has flaws,
And I will not compare myself with others,
Cherish what I already have instead.
Don't go around envying others,
Count the blessings that Heaven has bestowed upon you,
Or take more than what you capable of.
Turn around and look at yourself instead.
You will find that actually you own more than that of you don't have.
Appreciate what you have.
Cherish you jolly moments,
Those that you don't have, are also a part of the elements in your life,
Accept the fact,
I'm sure our life will be happier and better.
If you are a clam, do you want to bear all the pains to produce a pearl, or do you rather live a happy and comfortable life without a pearl?
If you are a mouse, who is stuck in a cage with a cheese cake, do you eat the cake or not?
In earlier times, the piggy bank is used to save money. Once it is filled, it has to be broken.
If it is not to be filled, after some time it'll be a precious antique.
Which do you want to have?
Answer these questions with your heart. Until a day when you able to give a constant answer, then you're officially matured!
Find someone who understands you, and also hope you are that someone who understands him/her.
The intelligent like to guess people's heart, although every time they get it right, but they will lose their own...
The innocent and naive love to give their hearts, although they get laughed at all the time but they would have won over other people's hearts.
Fish said: "I can't see my tears because I am in the water."
but the water said: "I can feel your tears because you are in my heart."
Learn to grow up, accept facts, you'll be more matured!
